Join me in deep diving into Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte!

I originally read Jane Eyre in school, when I was around 13 years old. I remember hating it! So I was understandably hesitant to start reading it again. But wow! I am loving it and it is nothing like I remember from school! It goes to show that I was likely too young to appreciate the book and decipher the themes it is talking about, even with the assistance of a teacher.

Now at 27 years old, I am absolutely loving my time reading Jane Eyre and cannot wait to continue.

I have always loved annotating and deep diving into texts, whether they be novels or poetry or songs. English Literature was always my favourite subject at school, and reading Jane Eyre was the exception to my love of the books we studied. Clearly that has now changed - now that I am old enough to appreciate it and fully take it all in.

I will be continuing to do deep dives into various aspects of Jane Eyre as I read and I cannot wait to share all my thoughts, feelings and analyses with you all!

Let me know if you have read Jane Eyre before or if you might want to read alongside me as I do this deep dive! I am only on chapter 8, so there is plenty of time for anyone who wishes to catch up and join in!!

The first episode of my Jane Eyre deep dive is linked here. I start by looking at the folklore, ghost stories and fantasy books mentioned at the start of the book, and exploring how these have shaped and explain Jane's mentality.
